In autumn, the Vigezzo Valley and the Centovalli transform into a palette of colours.

The Foliage Train offers a panoramic journey through woods, mountains, villages and suggestive landscapes, from Domodossola to Locarno, along the historic Vigezzina-Centovalli Railway.
From 10 October to 15 November 2026, it will be possible to enjoy this special autumn experience and admire the landscape as nature dresses in its warmest tones.

The route crosses the Vigezzo Valley, known as the Valley of Painters, and continues into the Swiss Centovalli. From the window you can admire woods, streams, bridges and small mountain villages, enveloped in the yellow, orange and red colours of autumn.

Among the most interesting places is Santa Maria Maggiore, ideal for a stroll through its historic centre. The journey ends in Locarno, on Lake Maggiore, where you can round off the day with a walk along the lakeside.
Departing from Domodossola also allows you to discover its historic centre and enjoy the journey without haste.
